NFL Power Rankings: Week 4

week3

The Patriots continue to run away from the rest of the field, and remain at #1 in the BLTD Power Rankings.

Three weeks of football in the books. We are getting a good idea of who the contenders and pretenders are, but the middle of the pack is broad. There is a lot of small shuffling this week, despite relatively big wins.

cleveland

Cleveland was SO close to winning their first game of the season. A missed 46 yard field goal with time expiring was as close at the Browns got. Note to Browns management: I'm not a general manager by any stretch, but hire a kicker who can, you know, MAKE A KICK. 3 for 6 on the day for Cody Parkey, and he should be headed to the unemployment line.

The Bears defense looked like butter to the Cowboys hot knife on Sunday night. There was a little more

new-orleans
0-3
New Orleans is a defensive tire fire. 96 points allowed through three games, which puts the Saints on pace to allow the 2nd-most points in a single NFL season. Goodness, learn how to stop an offense.

jacksonville
0-3
What the hell is going on? Heavy preseason expectations are quickly sinking the regular season ship. If Jacksonville continues to underwhelm, one would think people will start getting fired.
28
27
san-francisco
1-2
The "they are who we thought they were" tour continues for the 49ers. Blaine Gabbert is not the answer, but they'll keep pushing him out every Sunday.

miami
1-2
Miami should have a thank you note in the mail for that win on Sunday. As much as Miami won that game, Cleveland handed over a victory. Take it and run into the Bengals on Thursday, Miami.

*scratches head*

Do the Lions like actually remember how to effectively play football? I am so confused by this team. Stafford drops almost 400 yards and they still lose. Whatever.

Jameis Winston bounced back this week, which is good for Tampa. Todd Gurley remembered how to football, which was bad for Tampa. You need to beat teams like LA if you want to make the playoffs, you guys.
24
23
indianapolis
1-2
So much frustration with this franchise right now. You have a generational talent in Andrew Luck, who threw for 330 yards. Yet, you ALMOST lose. Get it together, Indianapolis.
23
20
san-diego
1-2
San Diego continues to lose key players and football games. At 1-2, not all is lost but they're teetering on the edge of falling down a rabbit hole.
22
29
buffalo
1-2
New offense means better offense for Buffalo, apparently. Anthony Lynn is rolling out the same offense as before, just simplified. Whatever he is going, don't stop. The Bills handled Arizona offensively and defensively, in impressive fashion.
21
28
washington
1-2
A week after rumblings of unrest in Washington, quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for 296 yards and 2 TDs. Washington needs Cousins to lead the way, just like last season, if they want to go anywhere. This is a positive step in the right direction.
20

los-angeles
2-1
Los Angeles records a win AND scores a touchdown! Wooooooooo. Plan the parade!

tennessee
1-2
Playing against a very wide-open defense, Tennessee could only manage 10 points. Almost 400 yards offensively but those points, man..Tennessee is miserable.

Ryan Fitzpatrick was green, liquid baby poo against the Chiefs defense Sunday. Fitzmagic turned Fitztragic, throwing 0 touchdowns and 6 interceptions (!!!). No one has done that since 1989. That guy ended up quitting and becoming a punter. Congratulations!

atlanta
2-1
Devonta Freeman took the reigns offensively on Monday night, and did not look back. 152 yards on 14 carries, sheesh guy.
16
16
dallas
2-1
Dallas seems to have found a good formula to winning football games. Dak Prescott is doing just enough, coupled with strong running from Ezekiel Elliott. Dez Bryant injured his knee and La'El Collins is out long-term with a foot, but the Cowboys look to be trending in the right direction early on.
15
15
oakland
2-1
The supposed-to-be good defense finally showed up, and it only took 3 games! Oakland can be a playoff contender if their defense plays this well every week.
14
11
new-giants
2-1
New York took the loss Sunday but shouldn't hang their heads. If they play every week like they played against Washington, they'll win many more games this season.
13
2
arizona
1-2
Arizona, man..what are you doing? The Bills were yours for the taking and you fumbled bad. A seemingly easy victory turned into an embarrassing loss. Take the walk of shame, you earned it. Also, Carson Palmer was not good.
12
14
kansas-city
2-1
Welcome to Turnover City. Kansas City's defense swarmed the ball with impressive ease on Sunday, forcing 8 turnovers. A great day at the office.

cincinnati
1-2
Oh Cincinnati, woe is you. Two tough losses to two very good football teams. Bouncing back is important if y'all want to not fall too far behind in the AFC.

houston
2-1
Houston was exposed this week by a weakened Patriots squad. The Texans might still be a playoff team but

Russell Wilson somehow has not been actually murdered on the football field yet. First, it was a high ankle sprain and now, an MCL sprain. Wilson will be a cyborg by Week 10. Also, Seattle crushed San Francisco..no shock.

carolina
1-2
Carolina looks to be sputtering a little but they've lost to two good teams. Don't sleep on Carolina just yet, despite the early struggles.
7

green-bay
2-1
Aaron Rodgers looked damn good on Sunday. Pinpoint accuracy, dropping dimes everywhere. The Packers defense did not inspire confidence but hey, a win is a win.
6
4
pittsburgh
2-1
Don't be fooled, Pittsburgh is still a talented football squad. They ran directly into a buzzsaw this weekend. Defensively, Pittsburgh needs to tighten up. Offensively, the Steelers get LeVeon Bell back next game..so all is well.
5
13
baltimore
3-0
How did this happen? Nobody knows, but Baltimore looks good enough to be 3-0. Flacco looked poor on Sunday, but when you play Jacksonville..you can get away with poor play.
4
10
minnesota
3-0
The cream rises to the top, should Minnesota be considered in the conversation of the top teams? They've not lost yet and they're winning both offensively and defensively, without major weapons.
3
19
philadelphia
3-0
A big jump was absolutely necessary for the Eagles, after Sunday's performance. Philadelphia absolutely dominated Pittsburgh in all facets. The Eagles are quickly showing they might just be for real.

denver
3-0
Trevor Siemian has arrived and boy, did he look good. 312 yards, 4 TDs with a 65.7 completion percentage. Broncos defense allowed 17 points, but they were still sharp and Von Miller recorded his 5th sack of the season.

new-england
3-0
No Jimmy G, no problem! New England handled Houston in impressive fashion. Jacoby Brissett was a very good game manager and LeGarrette Blount ran all over the Texans defense.
