NFL Power Rankings: Week 13

zeke-stiff

Ezekiel Elliott is stiff arming all takers in this week’s BLTD Power Rankings.

As the days change, the song remains the same. The Dallas Cowboys again remain the best team in the National Football League, hands down. A few movers-and-shakers this week, as we progress towards the playoffs.

Cleveland loses again, such a surprising result. The Browns are staring down the barrel of only the 2nd 0-16 season in NFL history. Kudos!

san-francisco
1-10
San Francisco came up a few yards short of playing playoff spoiler last weekend, but instead Colin Kaepernick was bent over backwards as he tried to push himself toward the endzone.

jacksonville
2-9
Jacksonville held their own against Buffalo this week but could not do enough to get over the hump. Another shot across the bow, as we appear to be heading towards the end of the Gus Bradley Era.
29
29
chicago
2-9
Matt Barkley threw the hell out of the ball this week, but Chicago is still bad. Barkley recorded his first NFL passing TD and might enjoy a few weeks at the helm of an NFL franchise but who knows if he can actually cut it as a starter.
28
28
new-jets
3-8
For the most part, it appeared as if the Jets were ready to pull off the upset and then the fourth quarter rolled around. Games like this are what separate the good from the great and the Jets aren't even good.
27
26
cincinnati
3-7-1
Cincinnati is an absolute mess right now. Baltimore left the door open multiple times for the Bengals to take over and it never happened. Something has to give with these Bengals, we're just not sure what that is.
26
27
carolina
4-7
Carolina did everything right on Sunday. Cam Newton was strong, Jonathan Stewart was strong and their defense did what it needed to do. Like the NYJ/NE game, the fourth quarter separated the men from the boys. Carolina allowed 11 4th quarter points, which ended up being the difference here.
25
23
los-angeles
4-7
Los Angeles is bad. You know it, I know it. Now, they're kicking legends off the sidelines. Nothing is going right with the Rams and they should fire Jeff Fisher.
24
21
indianapolis
5-6
With Andrew Luck, Indianapolis is a mediocre team. Without Luck, Indianapolis is a terrible team. Scott Tolzien made an admirable attempt at making a tough start but did not do nearly enough.
23
25
san-diego
5-6
On a day where Melvin Gordon was held under 100 rushing yards, the rest of the Chargers picked up the slack. Philip Rivers threw for 3 TDs and the Chargers defense bent but certainly did not break.
22
19
arizona
4-6-1
These days it seems as David Johnson goes, the Cardinals go. Johnson only racked up 58 yards on the ground and naturally Arizona dropped their game this week. Their pass defense was also atrocious, as per usual this season.
21
22
new-orleans
5-6
New Orleans made a point to embarrass their old defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. 555 yards of total offense and 49 points - message has been received, New Orleans.
20
11
philadelphia
5-6
Philadelphia has continued to level out - the league appears to have figured Carson Wentz out. When Wentz figures out how to adjust to the league's adjustment, maybe things will turn around for the Eagles.
19
20
green-bay
5-6
Aaron Rodgers is back? 313 yards and 2 TDs seem to point in that direction. Rodgers hurt his hamstring during the game but said postgame that he'll be fine. Green Bay needs Rodgers at 100% if they want any shot at a playoff berth.
18
24
tampa-bay
6-5
Tampa Bay for sure did the damn thing this weekend. The Buccaneers scored two touchdowns in the first and then proceeded to hold on for dear life for the final three quarters.
17
16
minnesota
6-5
Minnesota went from unbeatable to unwinnable. After snapping a long losing streak, Minnesota dipped back into the loss column after allowing a late field goal. The Vikings are on the outside looking in at this point.
16
18
buffalo
6-5
Buffalo tried so damn hard to lose this game, let me tell you. LeSean McCoy continues to rush directly toward his first 1,000 yard season as a Bill (and first since 2014). Good to see Sammy Watkins' health make it through a game too.
15
14
tennessee
6-6
Seems like an off week for the Tennessee Titans but they were lucky enough to play the Chicago Bears. Tennessee did just enough to pull out a win at Soldier Field. Mariota was OK, Murray was highly ineffective and their defense was shredded for 411 yards. Sheesh.
14
12
washington
6-4-1
Despite losing, it was not for a lack of trying. Kirk Cousins shredded Dallas' defense for 449 yards and 3 TDs. Playoffs are still likely for this decently talented squad.
13
17
detroit
7-4
Detroit looks like a team that will be a nightmare when the postseason rolls around. Matt Stafford again did the damn thing and Matt Prater sealed this game, going 3 for 3 on field goals.
12
15
pittsburgh
6-5
The see-saw season continues for the Steelers. Ben Roethlisberger completed 14 passes with 3 TDs sprinkled in and LeVeon Bell was a stud with 120 yards and 1 TD. If Pittsburgh plays this way every week, they'll be a playoff lock.
11
10
baltimore
6-5
Baltimore was mediocre this week, with Joe Flacco throwing for 234 yards and the offense totaling 91 rushing yards. The Ravens are lucky they played an impotent Bengals team this week.
10
13
miami
7-4
Miami is one of the two AFC Wild Card spots right now. That feels weird to say, but Adam Gase has done a thing down in Miami this season. Jay Ajayi only totaled 45 rushing yards, so it for sure was Ryan Tannehill who did the grunt work this week (285 yds., 3 TDs).
9
7
houston
6-5
Brock Osweiler is one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL - don't @ me. He threw 3 picks this week and refuses to take control of the AFC South.
8
6
seattle
7-3-1
For every step ahead, there are two steps back for the Seahawks. They look so good and then they have games against the Buccaneers. Unbelievable performance this week but maybe this Seattle's yearly pre-playoff wake-up call.
7
8
atlanta
7-4
Matt Ryan led Atlanta to another impressive victory this week, with 269 yards and 2 TDs. Don't discount what Devonta Freeman did on the ground though, with 60 yards and 2 TDs. The offense continues to click in Atlanta.
6
5
denver
7-4
With the playoffs on the line, why not just smother the game and play for the tie? Instead, Gary Kubiak goes for a 62 yard field goal and it doesn't get converted. What a bonehead play. This could be a key game in the tight AFC playoff race.
5
9
new-giants
8-3
Odell Beckham Jr. might be the best wide receiver in the game right now. Haters, come at me. Eli Manning is driving this Giants offense to a playoff berth, but who knows how far they'll actually go.
4
4
kansas-city
8-3
Kansas City's defense is relentless. I mean, my god - 5 sacks, a forced fumble, a safety and a free kick returned for a TD. Cairo Santos almost blew the game with time expiring but the bank for sure was open late on Sunday night. Kansas City looks to have the top AFC Wild Card wrapped up.
3
3
oakland
9-2
Oakland increasingly appears harder and harder to beat. Carolina had them on the ropes, down for the count and the Raiders got back up then recorded the TKO. Derek Carr continues what could be an MVP season with a 315 yard performance. Good luck playing this team at home in January.
2
2
new-england
9-2
Another week where New England plays a much lesser opponent and they find themselves in cruise control. Big news out of the game was Rob Gronkowski leaving with a back injury. That could be bad news for the Patriots, who are rolling toward the playoffs.
1
1
dallas
10-1
Dallas is the first team to 10 wins this football season. Who would've predicted that? Ezekiel Elliott had another strong afternoon with 97 yards and 2 TDs. We are seeing the MVP right here.
